Drama
Nigel works extensively in both drama and docu-drama, co-directing the drama feature film Mothers and Daughters, starring Sharon Stone, Christina Ricci, Selma Blair, Mira Sorvino and Susan Sarandon.
As a writer and director, Nigel has always brought a highly cinematic visual and narrative approach to his factual work, such as in the feature documentary The Man Who Stole The Scream (Sky) and Da Vinci Detective for Channel 4 UK. His long running docu-drama series Fatal Attractions, for Animal Planet in the US, explored the motivation behind why people chose to share their lives animals that have the potential to kill. Each episode was at heart a psychological thriller and the series has been acknowledged as creating a new genre in Natural History programming.
The scripted drama he develops through Leviathan Films is most often based on contemporary events, either directly or indirectly. While training as Assistant Director at The Lyric Theatre, Belfast, Nigel began collaborating with the acclaimed Belfast playwright and screenwriter Gary Mitchell. Together they have developed a number of drama projects, both for the cinema and TV, often in collaboration with Northern Ireland Screen.
